For a stone carver, Nature embodies what she is all about: her inspiration and her medium. After all what is a stone if not something formed underneath the Earth’s surface and risen up over time to the Earth’s crust. Additionally, recycling stone is a recurring theme, a testament to her small part toward limiting waste and advocating for sustainability.
Earth has traditionally be considered as a female archetype. This sculpture was carved out of discarded marble acquired from a Baltimore-based non-profit specialized in deconstruction, salvation and reuse.
The direct-carved figure represents Mother Nature shedding tears, asking humans to reflect on what it means to be human.
It is entitled Show your humanity, 28x9x13
