For a stone carver, Nature embodies what she is all about: her inspiration and her medium. After all what is a stone if not something formed underneath the Earth’s surface and risen up over time to the Earth’s crust. Additionally, recycling stone is a recurring theme, a testament to her small part toward limiting waste and advocating for sustainability.
The wounded Sun 33x6x6 was made out of a marble stone acquired from a non-profit specialized in deconstruction, salvation and reuse. It was directly carved and gold painted in a style reminiscent to rock art.
“What have you done?” the Sun cries out, unleashing solar flares “Why all the fighting and bloodshed? Don’t you realize that your earthly journey aims beyond the Earth?”
This piece embodies the Sun’s healing power. Its human-like figure alludes to the symbolism of the wounded healer.
